Re: Installing X11 from Tiger

I just made a little test: opened an xterm on each of my 4 Spaces desktops. Then when I go to Desktop 2, 3 or 4 and click in the xterm found there in order to try to get focus, instead of getting focus it switches me back to desktop 1. Every time. Seems pretty unusable to me.

I've found that if you don't move your mouse between switching spaces and clicking on another XTerm, this can happen. Otherwise it works fine. Generally in practical use I tend to move my mouse around when working, so this only happens when I'm trying "test cases" of what works and what doesn't work.

Note that I also have "focus follows mouse" for X11 turned on which generally requires that you move the mouse to focus the window, rather than click on it, which basically alleviates the switching issue. (Note that with Spaces this is required even if your mouse pointer ends up over a window when you switch screens, because the window won't focus until you nudge your mouse a bit!)

This is with the Tiger X11 on Leopard of course, Leopard X11 I can't stop from switching spaces no matter what.

Its not perfect, but I can actually work on my laptop now! Of course my main workstation will remain Tiger based until these issues are resolved.

Cheers,

Jamie
