What is the launchd stuff anyway? Will simply moving the directory also allow me to open up X11 programs from the Terminal command line without having to manually start the X11 server and specify DISPLAY/ xauth, etc?

Not even if setting up a netboot image that should result in a working X11 when a system is booted from it, without having to run the package installer on each such system?
