Well, this reminds me a X11 "crash" I had after applying the last
update and forgot to report here. It required only a logout for the
change to take effect, but after that X11 behaved in a strange way:
windows not always responding, could not bring them to the
foreground and an unusual menu showing up when left-clicking on
them. I could quit but it ended up with two stuck xterm processes
consuming each 100% of CPU time! Worse, X11 and Terminal.app could
not launch anymore after repeated attempts, even after killing the
xterm processes and logged in as an admin. It really scared me. I
had to restart the system for this to settle down.
This was under 10.5.4 with all system updates applied.
I am using Window Maker and probably this is part of my problems,
but sadly, from my experience, X11 on a Mac is not anymore what it
used to be.

Is urxvt hanging on startup and consuming 100% cpu? If so,
this is
probably because of a known kernel bug since 10.5.0.
