Two issues I still see, which may be my configuration:

One, every time I start an xterm, it doesn't run /etc/bashrc and I have to source that manually. This has been going on for as long as I can remember since upgrading to 10.5.

This should be handled by the following lines in your /etc/profile :

if [ "${BASH-no}" != "no" ]; then
        [ -r /etc/bashrc ] && . /etc/bashrc
fi

Two, every time I close an xterm, the xterm that has number 1 (the one you would select by pressing apple-1) is closed as well. It does not matter if I started it or the server started it. This just started happening recently.

Umm... weird... has anyone else seen something like this? I can't reproduce it.
