akramer:~$ cat .Xresources
xterm*foreground: white
xterm*background: black
(more)
...but when X11 starts up and creates its initial xterm (and sometimes for
one or two more xterms), they come up with black text on a white background
(e.g., the default). It seems to me that .Xresources should be read/loaded
before applications are launched, no?
This has been the case since Leopard's X11 came out, through all the
versions and in 2.3.1_rc1. It's only a mild annoyance to me (I tend to
remember what I'm doing in xterms based on the command-key that brings them
forward, and so hitting command-N a bunch of times and then having to close
the first couple is a bit of a pain, but the deeper implications may be
worth considering.
