Yes. This is a well known problem. Moreover, the reason for it is well
understood, however finding the right fix is nontrivial because the
underlying race condition appears to be inherent in the current
architecture of X11 on Leopard. We are all waiting with bated breath to
see if Jeremy comes up with a clever solution. (I know I can't think of
one.)

Sounds good to me. I'll just keep closing those pesky black-on-white xterms.
It only amounts to a few wasted seconds a week, after all.

Seems to me you just need a wrapper around the run-to-start command, no?
