Re: X11 not working after Leopard upgrade

Try using the 2.3.1_rc1 package:
http://static.macosforge.org/xquartz/downloads/X11-2.3.1_rc1.pkg

Then please report the full X11 output from your system.log (not just the snippet you selected). Please check the log even if you successfully start since it might reveal a bug in your keyboard layout.

Hi

The existing (non functioning) X11 came from a 2.3.0 xquartz pkg.

Any more ideas?

Hi Balt,

X11 is known to suck under Leopard, but is under active development
by competant folk. The solution for the time being is to download a newer
version of X11 and install it. You want the latest version (currently 2.3.0)
from

http://xquartz.macosforge.org/

...you will need to reinstall the xquartz version after EVERY apple system
update.

Hi all,

I'm confused as to why my X11 install stopped working, maybe one of you
can
help.

I upgraded to 10.5, and in the same step downloaded and applied all
udpates
up to 10.5.3.

X11 stopped working at that point. The log messages stated "unable to find
application for org.x.X11". Based on some google results with that message
I
installed the XQuartz version of X11.

That successfully changed the X11 launch bar icon (i.e. it did install
something), but still nothing is starting when I click on it. The log
entries state:

27/08/08 6:12:49 PM org.x.X11[427] X11.app =

27/08/08 6:12:49 PM org.x.X11[427] argv[1] = -launchd

exit
code: 1
27/08/08 6:12:49 PM com.apple.launchd[226] (org.x.X11) Throttling respawn:

Does that make any sense to anyone? Ideas?

Thanks
