Re: xnest on 10.5

(Sorry for posting this privately as well at first; hit "reply" by mistake; still getting used to Apple Mail instead of Thunderbird). Hey could we have a Reply-To set on this list? :-)

Yes, Xephyr still doesn't really work right for xdmcp to ubuntu.

(Just doing it again to remind myself what the problem is...)

Oh yes, with Xnest I can give a -geometry to make a sensibly-sized window; I can't in Xephyr, I can only supply -fullscreen which just covers both monitors on a dual-monitor setup, and also loses the bottom of the remote desktop by the height of the menubar.

And if I supply -screen <horiz>x<vertical>, while the local window opened is the right size, the remote desktop's size is completely wrong - 1600x1200 and apparently nothing can change that - it's not related to any setup on the remote end. (Currently the remote system's local display is configured to 1280x1024.)

There's also a problem with doubled up mouse pointers (ie: the local os x mouse pointer doesn't disappear inside the window - sometimes.)

*Please* don't drop Xnest; it's still the only workable solution I have. Xephyr is still too broken.

Yeah, but it probably won't be for long. Is there a reason you need Xnest and Xephyr doesn't work for you?

I see now it is in the update. Sorry.

   Hi:

Is it my imagination or is Xnest no longer available? If so, is this because it is incompatible, or would it be possible to install as a 3rd-party program?

   Thanks.
