FWIW, the wireshark I am running (from macports) was compiled in July
last year, and it still runs fine.

otool -L tells me that wireshark uses libSM, libICE and libX11 from
/usr/X11R6/lib/. Of course it uses tons of other libraries too, such
as libgtk-x11, from macports. It could be that some of those are
outdated and need rebuilding. (I tend to try to keep my macports
fairly up to date with "port selfupdate" and "port upgrade outdated".)
