As others noted, a Linux focused mailing list is what you're looking for.
I can suggest a widely recognized Linux group that I'm associated with,
Atlanta Linux Enthusiasts. A couple of the top Linux security gurus on the
planet are founding members.
You can subscribe to the group's mailing list at <http://www.ale.org>.
I know that there are several active members who run or have run
Linux on Mac laptops, both PPC and Intel. I'm sure they'd be
happy to address your questions if you provide adequate details
on the hardware you are trying to use.
