Don't ever use a passwordless keyphrase. There's not even any reason to think about it in Leopard, given how nicely ssh passhphrase management is integrated with the Mac Keychain at a deep level.

If you want to keep a similar ease of login you can use a passwordless keyphrase to automate the remote login.
