I've been mostly unable to use spaces because of that behaviour, too.
Would it have an impact if we each filed radar bugs requesting a
spaces preference to "not automatically switch spaces"? That's my
biggest deterrant to using it, unfortunately. I don't want it to
switch when I click stuff on the dock. I don't want it to switch when
the next focused window is in a different space. I just don't want it
to auto-switch at all! _I_ know when I want to switch spaces. Spaces
(so far) never knows when I want to switch spaces. Is there a spaces
mailing list?
