Re: using X11 with Spaces?

That is an accurate observation, and something I am really unfond of where spaces is concerned, but I was really replying based on the following, which looks very much like the problem I was addressing.  My apologies if I have made a mistaken assumption.

I've just tried it with Camino and X11, and I get the new window in
the current Space, not the Space the first window of the app was
opened in.

No, I think you missed the point.  What the OP wants is:

       * open a window
       * minimize it into a Dock item
       * switch to some other Space
       * click on Dock item
       * window re-opens into current Space

Some brief testing here says that it re-opens into its original space,
just as the OP complains (and auto-swoosh off doesn't fix it).

Maybe the Spaces dudes have some focus-group surveys saying that that's
the right thing, but if I were in their focus group I'd have disagreed
loudly,

                       regards, tom lane
