old transparent yellow cursor bug reappears on Tiger X11

I noticed in the last month or so that the old "transparent yellow cursor" bug in the Tiger X11 (when running clients on a remote machine) has reappeared on my MacBookPro. My colleague also had the same problem on his Mac Pro. I suspect that one of the security updates has replaced the Tiger X11 server that we had patched to remove the bug. Is it OK to reapply that same patch from two years ago? I suppose that we will lose whatever security improvement, but the transparent yellow cursor is nearly impossible to use.
