Xcode 2.2 Interface Builder crashes constantly?

I just installed Xcode 2.2. Interface Builder just crashes every time I try to start it. The crash log shows the 
crash in libjvm.dylib??? Obviously it tries to start Java Virtual Machine, but what could go wrong? I am 
using 10.4. (8F46) on TiBook (500 Mhz/512 MB).
