Cannot link project checkedout from an SVN repository

Hi, My project builds with no glitch in XCode 2.2 but when I do svn import and then svn checkout to and from an svn repository on a remote server I get this link error: "Command /usr/bin/g++-4.0 failed with exit code 1" with this rather unhelpful explanation: "collect2: ld returned 1 exit status"

Any idea of what could cause this?
