CVS: Only the linking fails, but how do we overcome this?

I've downloaded the files via CVS and only the linking fails, but how do we overcome this?

The CVS source files download and build for the author, who has also sent me a zipped copy of the source tree.

I've unpacked each into a new directory, then opened the file "src" in Xcode
set: Project:Set Active Build Style:Deployment
then Build & Go

however: "Build failed for target "Chlor" using build style "Deployment" (1 error, 18 warnings)"**
