If you enclose URLs in < > characters, most mail clients (Mail.app and
PowerMail for sure) will deal with then being broken into several lines,

I don't believe my mail client, PowerMail, supports 'format=flowed', so
both these long lines above will be chopped into multiple lines. But in
every mail client I've seen the first will still be clickable because of
the enclosing <>.
In fact, if the clipboard contains plain text that PowerMail detects is
a URL, the <> are automatically added when pasting. I wish Mail.app did that.
