You're depending on Java, too. While Leopard's Java definitely fixed some
bugs, it may have introduced some new ones. See recent java-dev postings
re MIDI on PPC.

It comes down to simple basic economics. What you should do is evaluate
the cost of making a mistake. Give it a dollar figure. Then find an
external hard-drive with a price less than or equal to that figure, and use
that to make suitable backups (and verify them) before installing Leopard.
That way you won't be stranded.

To determine a realistic dollar figure, consider this hypothetical
situation: you install it, you don't like it, you can't get back, you spend
days or weeks in painful frustration. What would you pay for an expert to
recover everything for you?

And if you can't think of a solid reason to use Xcode 3 in the first place,
or you don't require any of the features or fixes in Leopard (e.g. Java
bugs fixed), then you should be asking yourself why you would upgrade at
all. If you can't put a dollar figure on it, don't bother.
