Try opening an Info window on a problem file and explicitly setting
the line endings. (I believe this will work with inconsistent
files.) See if that corrects the off-by-lines problems.
Info windows, eh? I didn't remember there was an alternative to the
View > Text menu.
I'd forgotten that; thanks for reminding me. But with the Info window,
you can select several files, and set line endings for all of them.
