Is there a way to prevent xcode from rebuilding the entire project
after reboot? The sources haven't changed. Why can't it stay
linked?
Your intermediate build files are probably being kept in a place
where
they're tossed out on a reboot (/tmp, for example).
Check your Xcode Preferences under the Building tab. Look at the
preference for "Place Intermediate Build Files in:" Make sure "With
Build Products" is selected.
Unfortunately, I don't think that's it. My settings are:
Place Build Products in:
Project Directory
Place Intermediate Build Files in:
With build products
Build Options:
Use Predictive Compilation
Could it have something to do with the precompiled headers?
Since my Mac is a notebook, I almost never reboot it. However, I do
quit and restart XCode every now and then, and also close and reopen
projects.
When I reopen a project after some days its precompiled headers are
rebuild (and thus everything else also), though I didn't change
anything in the project at all. Just reopen, klick on "Build&Go", and
XCode starts to compile... Very annoying...
