% xgrid -out outdir -job submit /usr/bin/perl liljob.pl HOMER.txt

Then I get the results:
% xgrid -job results -id 15

I would try:
xgrid -job submit  liljob.pl HOMER.txt

then

xgrid -job results -id 15 -out outdir

Works for me.
