if the giga bit is on the pci-x bus in the nodes go for giga bit by
using the right polling and other things you can expect around 960
Mbit/s (done it on linux) if the network interfaces is on a 32bit 33Mhz
bus you can expect 640 Mbit/s.
Go with the giga bit because in the long run lesser problems!
