Parallel App Question

I've been doing some experimenting with XGrid for some time. Is there a consensus or recommended approach for APIs? I'm aware that this is still Technology Preview 2 and not a full release. So far most of my experimentation has been with the MPI support in XGrid. I've been using information from the Dauger Research site in addition to Apple's High-Performance Computing (HPC) pages. I'd like to use more graphics visualization, but that might limit my options right now. Pooch provides support for the visualization features of the MacMPI APIs, so that might be an option. Any suggestions?

The other part to this question is a bit of confusion about multi-processing (MP) APIs. The MP API, which utilized native OS X threading support to do it's magic, used to be the popular option. Well, maybe not popular, but it was an option. It seems to me that a parallel processing API leveraging multiple processors on a system is a better approach. This would enable the user to utilize processing power on other machines in addition to multiple processors on his or her own system. Has there been any suggestions or recommendations on MP APIs? This was probably covered at WWDC. Sorry, but I wasn't able to go.

Thanks,
Steve
