RE: Limit disk use of an Xsan

Hi,

Well then sorry to all Xsan specialists... ;-)

"It would seem scary to fill it up, but they all have said it will just degrade IO performance and that's it."

Don't TRY to fill it up in a production environment, when it is full the fsm server proces will hang and will generate a failover which will fail...

Lucas, 10 points for the question!

I've asked this every same question to several apple xsan specialists,
and all have pretty much said the same thing. They recommend 10% free
space, but the only issue with anything less than that is performance.
It would seem scary to fill it up, but they all have said it will just
degrade IO performance and that's it.

Hi,

Does anyone know what the sensible limit is in how full your Xsan can
get? I can imagine that totally full is not a good idea.

We have a 16 TB Xsan, and I was wondering if I could put a quota on
it, and if so how big it should be.

Thanks,

Lucas Nap
