How do you handle multiple xRaids? I have 8 units and not sure how to "split" the serial cable.

8 Units you say?
Use the following for your Xserve RAIDs (I don't know how you would shut down
your XServe RAIDs, but this will signal them that power might go away soon, so they
should stop using cache, to prevent data loss in the event that the power actually runs out):

APC has a AP9207 "8-Port Share-UPS Interface Expander"
http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9207
As of this writing, the list price is $260.

(The AP9607CB has just 2 ports for $170)

Don't forget the cables at around ~30 per.
AP9823 "UPS Simple Signaling Communications Cable for Unix"

Use the AP9617 ($280)
UPS Network Management Card
to use SNMP to tell your servers and clients that the power is about to go away
(that's another story).
