Xsan Admin, Clients show public IP

Sorry if this is a FAQ, but I'm still trying to find my feet with setting up Xsan networks (and I will have 2 to administer pretty soon!)

I've 'wiped the slate clean' by removing all files in /Library/FileSystems/Xsan/config on all my Macs that have Xsan v1.4 installed (followed by a reboot). Is that enough?

I've used Apple Remote Desktop to login to the Mac that I want to set up as the Primary Metadata Controller and launched Xsan Admin directly on it. At the prompt after pressing Connect I've specified the raw IP of the "Built-in Ethernet 2" port of this Mac plus my admin account & password.

After entering the Xsan serial number and creating a SAN volume I wish to add my clients & backup MDC to the SAN.

Now when I go to Setup -> Computers in Xsan Admin I can see the address of several Macs that have Xsan installed, however these addresses are the public IPs/DNS names of the Macs I want to add even though I set the Primary MDC to use the private "Built-in Ethernet 2" port for the accessing the SAN.

Should I be concerned? I expected to see the private IPs of these Macs (via Bonjour?)

I suspect I can add the backup MDC and configure it to access the SAN via it's private port, but you don't get the choice for an Xsan client. I'm therefore suspecting that these 'clients' will try & use their public "Built-in Ethernet 1" port for Xsan traffic. Is this likely to be the case? If so how should I prevent this?
