Re: Aperture 2.0 & Export plug-ins

My understanding is that it is by design that Aperture 2 doesn't show the modal export progress sheet for export plugins. The bug in Aperture 2.0 appears to be that there is no entry in the Activity window for export plugins and, hence, no way to cancel a long-running plugin, like an uploader.

My users have been requesting non-modal export for a while, so I'm very glad to see this happen.

One question for Blake: will our progress messages appear alongside the spinner in the main UI, or only in the Activity window?

Ditto for me on the no progress indication.

There have not been any API changes and existing export plug-ins
should be completely compatible with Aperture 2.0. However, in order
to support 2.0's new modeless export feature, there have been slight
changes in the threading model for plug-ins.

We made an effort to test all of the plug-ins we are aware of and
we've already contacted developers of plug-ins that showed possible
issues, but please test your plug-ins with Aperture 2.0 to make sure
they are working correctly.

Sounds great. However, could you provide some hints about that
modeless export feature and the changes in the threading model? It
looks like I'm facing exactly that problem - I don't see "any progress
window" for Aperture 2.0...
