Note that pcscd version 1.2.9 was designed to be able to talk to a
libpcsclite version 1.2.9 and _also_ with a pre-1.2.9 libpcsclite.

Under Linux the libraries are called libpcsclite.so.0 and
libpcsclite.so.1 and can both be installed and used by different
applications. It seems a similar mechanism can be used with Mac OS X
so applications linked with a pre-1.2.9 pcsclite will continue to work
without recompilation. The PCSC.framework just has to provide both
libraries.

So a smooth migration is possible.
