I am experiencing some strange, sporadic behavior with some Help files. I
am working on OS X 10.3 using Help Viewer version 2.0.7 (v111.4). All
languages work as expected except I'm experiencing these problems ONLY in
the French and Japanese Help:
* First, we have a "Tell me more" link on our help topics that passes some
content to the Search function. This link is similar in functionality to
the "Tell me more" links in included with some Apple software Help for OS X
10.3 apps in that when a user clicks the link, the appropriate content is
passed to the Search function and a list of topics that contains those
words is displayed. Sometimes when I click the "Tell me more" link, the
content is displayed briefly in the Search bar then the Help system closes.
Other times I get the "topic not found" message. However, sometimes it
works as expected.
* Second, sometimes when I click the "Home" button in the Help Viewer, the
main .html page (as specified in the info.plist file) is displayed; other
times, the Help viewer closes.
* Third, sometimes when I type a word into the Search bar and press Enter,
the topics containing that content are displayed; other times, the Help
viewer closes.
Behind the scenes, everything is the same for all of the languages. They
all use the same info.plist and version.plist. Every time I test a new
language I reset the language using the International settings in the
System Preferences and then log off/on. I can't figure out why only these
two languages are giving me problems.
Has anybody encountered anything like this before? If so, what was your
solution?
Thanks,
Susan
