BTW, we did have a bit of a discussion about the AppleEvent object model and it's translation to the XML of sdefs a while back. It is more expressive than XML in one respect because XML attributes are rigidly restricted to a finite number of known data types, whereas this same position in AE can be a complex object (what has to be an "element" in XML). OTOH, XML's got a very powerful and flexible namespace implementation currently untranslated…
