If you have the new System Events loaded you can use UI Element Scripting to tell System Events to simply choose that Menu Item...

That option may work for you.

Is it possible to "reset" safari via applescript? When I say reset, I want the same thing to happen when you choose the Reset Safari... menu item.

I want something like

tell application "Safari" to
reset
end tell

Is this possible?

Thanks,
