What is -U option of osacompile and ASDScriptUniqueIdentifier ?

The osacompile command called from AppleScript studio has -U option.
I found that this option cause adding a propety
"ASDScriptUniqueIdentifier" into compiled script.

For example,

osacompile -U hello -o hey.scpt hey.applescript

The compiled script "hey.scpt" have a following property.

property ASDScriptUniqueIdentifier : "hello"

How used property "ASDScriptUniqueIdentifier" in AppleScript Studio ?

Also, I found that -U option cause a build fail when using the option
"distriute" of build-phase.

Can I remove -U option from the execution of the osacompile ?
