I've never seen a Kinko's in this country, and the nearest Apple store is at
least an hour away; maybe two hours. Some of use live out in the country, which
is also why we don't have ADSL (even remotely) as an option. Also, the last
condition you mentioned is a problem; I don't have any external hard drives, nor
do I have a laptop. (Well, that's not really true; but I don't think my old
200MB SCSI disk or old PB540 would really help in this situation.)
Another list member has very kindly offered to burn a disk and send it to me for
the cost of postage. I have eagerly taken him up on his offer.
In some parts of the world, 100MB is still considered a *huge* download. I'm the
only one in our area who can afford a satellite connection, so I have neighbours
asking me to burn 50MB files for them since their 24.6K connections would take
too long.
Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad to see the improvements in technology (eg.
12MB ADSL), but assuming that even 'developed' countries have the same level of
access is simply ignorant. Apple really should make some alternate options
available.
Hopefully that is enough of an explanation as to why I couldn't take the advice
offered by others.
Charlie
