Outline Views and "Selection changed" event...


I'm having trouble trapping a "selection changed" event sent by an outline view.

In interface builder, under the Applescript info panel for my outline view, inside the "Data View" portion of events, I have both "selection changed" and the applescript I'm trapping it with checked off. My handler inside the applescript simply contains "beep 3".

But for some reason, when I change selections in the outline view, I don't get any beeps.

The only thing I could think of was the fact that I'm not using a data source. What I'm doing is so simple, I thought I could get away without one. But the Apple documentation makes no mention that a data source is necessary for this event to be sent.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Any ideas what I may be missing?
