Hi List,
Thanks to those who responded to my query. I finally managed to
solve my problem. In a few summarized phrases here are the steps for
the benefit of those who might meet a similar need in the future:
1. Use a global variable that can be used as a flag then set this
flag so that the attached panel would be suspended in a repeat loop
with delay of 1 second;
2. When finished editing (using the "on end editing" handler), have
the handler set the flag so that the handler with the attached panel
will emerge from its "suspended" state.
3. Then close the panel and have the rest of the program run - such
as to process the edited text field in the attached handler.
I have implemented the above in my program and it is working like a
charm (I hope no more bugs somewhere).
