display alert error in leopard

I just upgraded to 10.5.2 from 10.3.9. My app is crashing when I attempt to issue two "display alert" commands in succession. It crashes on the second "display alert". Retesting it on 10.3.9 works fine.

Has anyone encountered this, or know why this might be happening?
