Or a linefeed (aka "ASCII character 10"). "return" is ASCII 13, which
is effectively a space as far as most shell tools are concerned.
Would a semicolon break anything down the line? If not, it's easier
than using the linefeed.
The semicolon is used in unix shells to identify the end of a command and
the start of a new one on the same line. In fact the semicolon will only
execute the command following it if the command before it was successful. If
it errors then the second command is not executed.
