downloading a file into a folder

I'm having trouble downloading a file into a specified folder.

<x-tad-smaller> do shell script</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> ("curl " & </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>this_URL</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> & " -o " & </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>POSIX path</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>of</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> (((</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>path to</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>desktop</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>) </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>as</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>string</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>) & </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>myFileName</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>))

</x-tad-smaller>downloads the file to the Desktop, just fine. When I add the folder (which is on the Desktop), this test:

<x-tad-smaller> display dialog</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>POSIX path</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>of</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> (((</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>path to</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>desktop</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>) </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>as</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>string</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>) & "PuzzlesToDo:" & </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>myFileName</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>)

shows the correct path, with slashes. However, when I put the folder into the shell command, like this:

do shell script</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> ("curl " & </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>this_URL</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> & " -o " & </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>POSIX path</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>of</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> (((</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>path to</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>desktop</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>) </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>as</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>string</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>) & "PuzzlesToDo:" & </x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>myFileName</x-tad-smaller><x-tad-smaller>))

I get this error:

Can someone here tell me how to fix this? TIA.
