Simple Backup Script

Does anyone have a simple (or not so simple) backup script they'd be willing to share (off list or on list)? I'd prefer that the application be an AppleScript, as I'd like to be able to easily customize it for my future needs. I've done some searching for this sort of application, but so far I'm not happy with what I've found. Thank you.
