I sometimes run the following routine (usually from Script Menu) to
copy Safari's current URL as a tiny URL. The converted form can
then be pasted as required.
Unlike TinyURL, this service warns you about your destination and
gives you a chance to abort:
Drag that url to your Safari bookmark bar and keep clicking...
