Wow, yeah, that sure did it--I'll have to think about why, but I
won't do that at 2am--thank you both for the replies.

Thinking about it may not yield much insight even when it's not 2 am.
It's not particularly intuitive, just a quirk of the implementation.
I only know about it because of reading about it on this list. ;)
