INDESIGN: Changing Order of Swatches

How does one address the issue of changing the order of palette items in InDesign CS3. I see, for instance, that getting swatches for a document...

set swatchList to object reference of swatches of active document

...does reflect the current order of swatches.

But how do you script a change in order? ...

set swatches of active document to swatchList

...generates an error. I don't see an object owned by a document or application that "owns" the swatch order. I'm suspecting that whatever solution exists here is transferrable to the issues of adjusting the palette display sequences for other palettes that are now user-configurable in CS3.
