Please, Ma, make it stop!

Ah, does it never end? I'm attempting to purchase a Lacie AIT firewire tape backup drive for my B&W G3, which is running ASIP 6.3. Unfortunately my B&W G3 computer doesn't like to do firewire. I understand that the work around is to install a PCI firewire card, therefore bypassing the B&W's finicky firewire guts.

When I originally installed ASIP, I also installed the Mac OS that came bundled w/ ASIP. When I do an about this Mac, it says my system is Mac OS Z1-9.0. Personally I've never seen a Mac OS that has "Z1" in it.

In order to successfully install a PCI firewire card, I must first upgrade the system to 9.1. Can I upgrade the system from Mac OS Z1-9.0 to 9.1 without f$%^&^ up my very stable ASIP 6.3 software?

Any help appreciated.

Merry, merry.
