ASIP and OS X

I am the technology coordinator of a small parochial school (barely qualified, but that's a whole other story :-\ ). We have been running Apple Share IP for about three years and have never had a problem with it. Our server computer is an older iMac running OS 9.1. We only use file sharing...each student has his/her own file folder where they store all their documents, etc...we call it the "closet". We have about 35 computers, all running OS 9. The computer I use runs OS X (so I can learn how it works), and it connects to the server just fine. But we're thinking of upgrading all work station computers to OS X (since new computers no longer ship with both operating systems). Do any of you experts see a problem with our plan? I know that OS X server is probably the better option, but we're not quite ready for that financially. I'd appreciate any advice you can give.

Thanks!
Donna
