OS X 10.2.6 clients prob. sleep state 2 logged in

I've encountered a strange thing on a G4 MD DP 1 GHz ASIP 6.3.3 (OS 9.2.2) server, it permits OS X 10.2.6 clients (that use Omnis 7 clients under classic mode) to sleep and to be active under the same IP adr. with the consequence that when some things have to be backed up to some of the client computers, it gets a file in use message and somebody has to go to the server and disconnect
the dual logged ins. It's a (sane no wintel) mixed enviroment: OS 9.x.x / OS X 10.2.x.
Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Chris.
