Re: more File Maker Pro Server

Is this The Law?

[ I read the next post down that said FMP had been run for years OK but I am
not sure if that was FMP Server or just FMP ].

Is port 80 to port 8080 just for the web broadcasting aspect of FMP [
because otherwise it uses a different port altogether ] not an issue if that
is off, right?

Would my guess be right to say that you want to get it to load before ASIP
kicks in a la Retrospect and so?

Interestingly, I have seen it eat huge chunks of memory when FMP Server
kicks in to do something such as schedule back ups, doubling its usual
amount used.

Just come back today fixing a sick G4 Yikes! with just this set up [ +
Retrospect ]. Frankly, the Server side seems pretty much over kill for small
offices such as most typical Mac client and I get sick of dealing with
problems created by contractors selling stuff folk don9t really need.

Thanks again to the venerable Scott Boone for making possible an update of
OS 9.0 and 6.3 to a very unsupported 9.2.2 and 6.3.3. [ basically, it never
made it over here to the UK at all ]. And to Brad Suinn for being a such
good egg with Apple despite all the corporate hounds throw at us.

This thing had never been touched since new and I would appreciate a second
opinion because I don9t want to look bad not being able to fix it. 5 women
in a room cant dream of 2 servers just to run a head hunting agency.

How much memory are folk throwing at this?

Thanks,

John
