I had this problem on my mom's B&W G3 tower. We discovered--by
accident--that it ran fine until after it went to sleep. Once we set it to
never sleep (tho the monitor dims after a set time) the problem went away. I
described the problem to a couple of experienced Apple techs, and their
suggestion was, "don't let it go to sleep"--neither of them had experienced
it before. Hope this helps...
