How about checking the IORegistry properties published by each device?

<IOKit/storage/IOStorageDeviceCharacteristics.h>

Look for the "Device Characteristics" dictionary at the IOBlockStorageDevice node in the registry. It should contain all the info you requested (except for the vendor in the case of ATA, it smashes the vendor and model name together in the same field.
