You have several alternatives. It depends on how much data you need to pass to the controller and whether you need to get notifications from it or if a simple synchronous operation is sufficient. You could potentially use IORegistryEntrySetCFProperties() and override setProperties() inside your controller subclass. Another alternative is to write your own user client.
No. STUC is not appropriate. STUC is a device interface for SCSI Architecture Model devices.
